subject: injury reporting overkll

By nature of LE, injuries are not uncommon, specialized enforcement duties
have additional Risks. I doubt that anyone here but I fell off a boxcar
injuring a weak shoulder and a strong knee. Many times I have overlooked
minor injuries and whoopsies on the job. The last time
I didoverlook and fail to report was being flung against a brick wall during
apprehension oafter as reverse auto theft sting. My "partner" had his whol;e
arm scraped badly and
I had my bell RUNG.
that weekend I developed diplopia and as time went on I experienced several
more tias including mild hemiplegia. I fought back from all of those to about
90% and returned to street, but 90% wasn't good enough and during last OOS my
anxiety over returning resulted in a cva which nearlt killed me.
By the time I felt the injury important enough to report, the legal limit was
over asnd employer chose to ignore it as stale.
No career, no compensation, no pins, badges or retirement parties, just out,
gone, forgotten and many friends best wishes occassionally.
Interestingf how often wer end up screwing ourselves because of our macho
self perception.
