-=> Mocking Paul Walker to Kurt Wismer <=-
KW> you'd be safer if you simply said no known virus has ever damaged
KW> hardware... hardware damage is possible with new hardware too, it just
PW> Problem with that is, they simply say "But you don't know about it".
and the problem with that is that not only would i not know about it,
but the entire av industry would not know about it... if a hardware
damaging virus popped up that would be a BIG deal and the av marketing
people would be plastering their ads about being able to detect and
remove this most dangerous virus...
and if the av industry doesn't know about it, then neither does anyone
in the vx community that might care about the monetary reward that has
been promised for the discoverer of such a virus (and you don't honestly
expect me to believe that none of these people claiming the virus exists
care about getting money)...
PW> Maybe if we try "can't damage any known [newer] hardware".
or we could just let the vx wannabes walk into the minefield of their
own ignorance...
i think the "no known virus has ever damaged hardware" is perfectly
sufficient... if someone still doesn't agree after the above type of
argument is put to them (that basically the only people who could know
about it without the aver's finding out are idealogical vx zealots who
don't care a whit about money - which is no one since they're
practically all kids and could do a lot with the money) then they are
clinging to their own ignorance and there is no best "first" statement
on the issue - convincing them would require more effort than any one
liner i've ever seen...
