Yoo Hoo, Stroller People!
RK>BM> OK, two small notes: I know it's hard to keep track of everything
RK>BM> going on at once, but one problem happens to me so often that I'm
RK>BM> moved to mention it: Please don't ram your stroller into the back
RF>BM> of my ankles. It's the fastest way I know to get me out of the
RK>BM> disnical mood I came for--even faster than screaming babies. It
RK>BM> can also lead to your kid learning new non-disnical vocabulary.
RK> To be fair: Any places where there are crowds are going to be
RK> treacherous travelling for strollers and ankles.... If you are
RK> childless, have some "body awareness" and simply be aware that maybe
RK> families are around you with and without strollers.... Don't just
RK> "stop" in the middle.... Be aware that looking all around ... can
RK> cause one to lose track.... If you have a stroller, be aware that
RK> those things ... are very difficult to steer precisely.... And both
RK> sides: Understand that where families gather and there are crowds
RK> there are going to be kids and parents and maybe strollers. Know
RK> this in advance, and be prepared to be polite....
RK> From Rich: And remember: Walt created Disneyland ... as a way that
RK> entire families could go and enjoy a park together. ... So, let's
RK> appreciate this and remember that the Disney parks are a place for
RK> all ages, whether you need a stroller or not! 8=o)
RK> As Carol-the-Moderator: It's OK to discuss strollers and
RK> etiquette.... Please be forewarned that on Usenet Disney newsgroups
RK> such a topic is a "hot one" that _does_ degenerate into flame wars
RK> and name-calling. IF that happens here we as Moderators will step in
RK> and end the thread. So ... post politely and with open minds. :-)
Sheesh! You forget to put in one little smiley and the moderators drop
an anvil on your head! HB;-) <-- Note smiley here!
Speaking as a non-stroller person, it is sometimes hard for us to
understand why we get hit by strollers but not by wheelchairs or just
bodies. I readily admit that I sometimes glaze over and come to a stop
in the middle of a walkway, but I rarely glaze over and keep on going.
Of course, not having kids, much less having taken them to the Parks,
I'd guess there's a whole lot I just couldn't possibly understand.
(Anybody wanna rent me their kids for my next trip so I can learn?)
Meeces, I wasn't shooting at you, at Dawn, or at anybody else with my
comments, and I apologize to anyone who thought I was. I am *not*
recommending that strollers be banned, I am *not* recommending that
toddlers and babies be banned, and I believe that Disney's concept of a
place for entire families to enjoy--including strollers when needed--is
the main reason I love the parks so much.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
