My connection is by PPP-Dialup, using Net-Tamer to form the connection to
my local (and only IBM BBS in Boston, MA, USA) WildCat!-5 WIN-Server. I then
use the Telnet IP service of WildCat!-5 Win-Server to create my Telnet link to
other BBSes. I used to use a router and terminal program combination directly,
which allowed for direct ASCII pasting of text into messages. I now need to
learn PPP. I am investigating EPPPD, LSPPP, RLFOSSIL, and others, but most
require Ethernet hardwired, and my 80386 only has a 14,400 BPS card. I have a
MicroComm OfficePorte 33,600 BPS, but it came with a european 'T' style
powerpack, rather than the North American 'H' style powerpack. I tried the
modem with a Hayes SmartModem 300 powerpack of the same power rating, but all I
got was gibberish. I think I need to flip an internal DIP or something.
Anyhow that is how I connect.
