The problem we are talking about is not a defect in VNC (although Geo has
referred you to what looks like a pretty good defect).

The Symantec story is about how some systems are been cracked using
techniques that have nothing to do with VNC. The crack program then
installs VNC as an easy way for crackers to control the victim in the
future (a backdoor).
