to achieve, and what version of Telemate you are using. 
I play around with scripts in TM 4.xx 
 
  WaitFor "recognisable string" 
   Put "whatever" 
   WaitFor "another recognisable string" 
    OR  Delay "t"     (tenths of a second) 
  Put "next whatever"
