ST> computer...I can hear the tiels and the lovebrat talking back
ST> and forth...and of course the keets never shut up...but there
ST> chatter is very relaxing to me...;) I often threatened to
ST> build a cage for my youngest son...hehehe sorry now that I
ST> didn't...hehehe
Really! Mine could use one too! My Grey is so cute in
the morning... if everyone sleeps past daybreak, you can
hear him in there talking (under his cage cover) very
softly to himself. Of course as soon as he hears a voice
or household sound, he gets loud!
ST> Oooh...doesn't he throw all of his feathers on the floor???
ST> My Tiels seem to like to pick up the feathers and throw them
ST> out of the cage and there isn't a feather in the lovebrats
ST> cage...she stuffs her's out the cage bars...;)
No, he just drops them to the bottom of the cage. The big
ones he sometimes uses as a backscratcher... holds it in
his beak and uses the pointy end to "itch" himself on the
neck where the beak won't reach!
ST> my area...the owner is very very interested in birds...and
ST> several of the local breeders have been selling to him...I
ST> figure I will contact him when the time is right...;) I sure
ST> can't keep them all...and I wouldn't give a lovebrat to my best
ST> friend...they just aren't good companions...;(
They are so pretty though... I love the pretty pastel colors
they come in. If you got one as a baby and only kept the one,
wouldn't it be a good pet?
ST> That is a great price....I paid $50 for each of my tiels from a
ST> local breeder...;) I would prefer to get a bird from a local
ST> breeder rather than a pet store...but that is my
ST> preference..and I was very very lucky to get my tiels from a
ST> woman that knew her babies..she is now one of my best
ST> friends...;) I'm getting my new bird from a breeder in Arizona
ST> that I met over the internet...have been talking to him for
ST> several months...and couldn't find one in the area that wasn't
ST> related to mine...;)
Yeah, the 'tiel that i had was from a pet store, and she
was ill from the day i got her. (Cold-like symptoms and matted
feathers under her eye.) $50 is still a good price though...
that's about the going rate around here for a bird from a
breeder. Pet stores of course hike the price up to make a
profit. Saw a lovely greenwing macaw baby last month that the
store was asking $3,000 for! (You can get one from a breeder
for less than half that.) Ay caramba!
