Friday December 22 1995, Peter Fitzsimmons writes to John Poltorak: JP>> There are no equivalent ASCII characters which I can use. I have a DOS JP>> program (but no source), which displays the screens properly in full JP>> screen, and I would like to be able to do the same thing in OS/2, but JP>> I have no idea how to code it. I don't expect that I can use the Vio JP>> commands since I think it will have to be full screen. PF> I'm not sure I understand yet what these teletext files are. There is probably a more generic name - possibly videotext (?). There are the text files which are receivable on TV sets. CNN transmit them, so I'm sure must be available outside the UK. Here's an example:- P100CEEFAX 100 Sat 1 Apr 15:43/12 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1/6 7###7###7####k##k##k##k###k#k5 5 5 5 5 jj j 0" ` ` `z j!5 5 5 <,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,l 5 Main News 101 Finance 200 j 5 Home News 110 Sport 300 j 5 Politics 130 Weather 400 j 5 World News 160 Travel 500 j 5 A-Z Index 199 TV/Radio 600 j -,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,. <,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NEWS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,l 5JOHN MAJOR SETS OUT NEW TORY AGENDAj 5 N ws Headlines - 101 j -,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,. @BBC BBC ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1/6 7###7 ###7####k##k##k##k###k#k5 5 5 5 PF> can't PF> use are the ones you should prob never be using anyway (like PF> VioGetPhysBuf). This is how they look in a text window when I run my DOS program, but it works fine in full screen. The problem is how to display the graphics characters under OS/2. They consist of 6 (2*3) blocks and do not directly map to ASCII characters. Someone mentioned something about using MODE 7, but I've never come across this before.
