Potentially all callers to a FidoNet system have an internet address......the
sysop is the person who is utimately responsible as to whether or not the
address is available to his/her callers.
BQ> A user on a FidoNet BBS does not have an address. Also you send your
messages to the

Actually they do.........for Net mail it's just the name of the person and
the Fidonet address of the BBS but for Fidonet gated email the address
takes the form of:
first name.last name@f.n.z.fidonet.org
Therefore mine would be:
lawrence.lucier@f204.n340.z1.fidonet.org
If you were logging onto my system yours would be:
bobby.queen@f204.n340.z1.fidonet.org
For the bbs where you posted your original message the address would be:
bobby.queen@178.n18.z1.fidonet.org
Whether or not you would be able to access mail addressed this way is
dependent on how the sysop has their system setup..........here I allow all
callers access to netmail and gated email.
The limitation though with this addressing scheme is that the person must log
onto the BBS to which the gated email is being sent to.......that is, if
someone sends you email addressed to bobby.queen@f204.n340.z1.fidonet.org
then you wouldn't be able to log onto Joe Blows BBS at Fidonet address
1:9999/999 and be able to pick up that particular piece of mail.
BQ> FidoNet is in no way a substitute for the Internet.
Some would say that the Internet is in no way a substitute for FidoNet!
