The sister of a drug store owner is a polio victim. She got it in
Kenya, and is about 35 yo. She *had* severe scoliosis from it and one
leg *was* shorter than the other.
After a car accident, she went to an acupuncturist for pain relieve
from her whiplash. That was about a year ago. She had since "gained" 2
inches in height. She claims the precedure is very effective in pain
relieve.
B.C., Canada, has just recognized acupuncture as a legitemate
medical procedure. So a friend of mine who is the president of the
Chinese Acupuncturists Assoc. is working with the president of
non-Chinese acupuncturist group to set up the Acupuncture Act, bylaws,
and standards for licensing. Once those are done and approved by the
provincial legislature, the procedure would be covered by medicare,
perhaps only for certain conditions, and perhaps only partly. But user
fees for partially covered procedures generally are less than $10 a
year. And each person are entitled to a certain number of subsidized
sessions a year, and pay full fees after that.
