Well, that has to play a part. You have to figure how long the
cartridge is going to last and then see how much it is going to cost
over the life span of the cartridge. The reason I got the Teledyne is
because K-Mart carried it and it is a well known brand. Now K-Mart is
no longer a Teledyne distributor (at least for the water filters) so I
have to get them direct. I just got a case.

I did not have the lead check out in my house but we get water from the
town and I am sure they check it for harmful levels. We have no
children who are the most susceptible to lead poisoning. Taste like I
said is excellent, you would sware that it was bottled water coming out
of my kitchen sink tap!

Since the water comes from the city, it has chlorine which is supposed
to kill those things right? Anyway, I'm sure the city would do
something if it were full of parasites.
TM>Just looking at all the ratings, it looks like lead and parasites are
  >what led to the IF-10A's relatively poor score.
I would say so since all the other parameters are good.
  >Also, in the comments it says, "Does not claim to remove lead.
True, that is stated on each cartridge package.
  >Hard to change filter."
Matter of opinion. I do not find it hard but I could see where some
might think so. Once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature.
TM>The Rainsoft costs a whopping $500, so it SHOULD get an almost
  >perfect score.
Wow, no, that's not something which K-Mart would carry! I would never
spend that kind of money on a filter unless I had very bad water and
nothing else worked.
Thanks for sharing the info on the rankings, I really appreciate you
taking the time to post that info.
