subject: Re: bugs - Veritas upgrade 8.6 to 9.0

Veritas apparently has "agents" for every OS and RDBMS. The
whole reason we upgraded to 9.0 was to be able to backup the Novell servers
without closing the Clipper databases that live on them.

I did succeed in convincing my boss (not much convincing needed) that we
shouldn't use the Veritas SQL Server agent. What we're gonna do is use
the
built-in backup functionality to backup to a dedicated W2K server at night
as part of the larger housekeeping routines on each SQL Server box, then
let Veritas backup the backup box during the day.
