Actually, an Envoy file. Envoy is Corel's competitor to Acrobat.
I think the extension is .env or .evy.
If you still want a book, look at the WordPerfect 8 Bible. I find
the Bible series to be, in general, the most complete with
coverage of advanced features. I also have the Osborne complete
guide, which is "officially sanctioned" by Corel.
I have to admit I haven't used the manuals much. I needed to find
the code for "invisble soft return" (Home-return in 5.1) in 7.0.
I couldn't find it in the manuals or the books or the help.
Someone eventually told me where to find it (format, line, other
[click this], hyphenation soft return [new name for invisible
soft return]). None of the books had a cross-reference under the
old name. Also, short of writing a macro, there's no easy way to
assign it to a key (maybe it's in the "WP 6.1 for DOS" keyboard;
I haven't checked).
The method of using typographic distortions is also hidden in a
submenu. My daughter wanted something with really extended type.
I suggested a font like "ultra bodoni," but even that wasn't
enough. So we did find the distortion on the help file. I don't
know why I knew about it except it was more obvious on 7.0 and I
must have found it. It's under TextArt in the help index, and it
took me two or three tries to find it this time, too. insert,
graphics, textart. Luckily there's a sample in the help file, so
when you find it, you'll know it.
