I am thinking of getting a Maestro 288FM-V modem on a sysop
deal for $412. It is V.34 of course. Apparently the modems
have been around for a couple of months now (it's just that
I haven't heard of them!). Does anyone have any info on
these? So much for Bill's great theory about a USR price
drop. :-) I'm not particularly interested in a flash rom,
because at the USR prices I can afford to simply keep my
Spirit and use that as a backup for the price I would pay
for the USR. Besides, I can probably make better use of
my Spirit for dialing out on my other line. BFN. Paul.

P.S. Is the Maestro modem as good as any other Rockwell
based modem at busy-detect, or is there something
particularly bad about Maestro?
