Manfred Mann has gone on record as saying that he did not specially like
their totality of sound live. He likes the "fulness" that they used
to get on record, but he feels cheated that he had a hard time getting
that sound on stage.
I just thought that a lot of that stuff, specially Magnified Glorified and
Solar Fire, is more playable live today, than it was then. And it is
pecially
better suited for today's more educated ears, than yesterday's when most
people were not as aware of the many styles and variations in prog. Heck,
I remember that the station I was involved in, everyone thought of YES,
GENTLE GIANT, for example, as another version of rock'n'roll, instead of
progressive music. That term did not really come to the forefront, until
fter
many of the fusion bands took hold in the market. Then, people noticed how
different and advanced the above music really was.
