The subsidies are a waste though in this case as the govt gets the money
back on the finished product.

Why do you compare agricultural subsidies to yourself?

At least with the subsidies a industry is kept alive that puts something
into society in the form of employment for its workers and a finished
product. What does your stipend do for society?
