I sympathise. I certainly wouldn't pay out of my own pocket. As far
as I'm concerned, the company gets the benefit of my accessing the
DAP, so it can damned well pay for the connection.

Exactly. Had they stuck with the Maximus setups, and put something
like BinkleyTerm or MainDoor in front of them, we could even have
automated most of that, and reduced connection times to the absolute
  minimum.

With the amount of FTN software available for OS/2, I often wonder why
no-one ever sold IBM on the idea that alongside the IAK they could
ship a IBM FTN Access Kit, which could come presupplied with (say) a
nodelist for all of the IBM BBSes, and a simple offline file transfer
  and echomail setup.

One other reason that the company can damn well pay the DAP connection
charges in my book. Even with the ISDN connection at work I've had
FTP connections just hang for several minutes at a time, or simply
drop dead 500Kb through a 2Mb file. Imagine paying the on-line
charges for doing that via SLIP/PPP! Give me v32bis and zmodem resume
  anyday.
