subject: Print Processor unknown error

JG> On 02-17-98, CHRIS HOLTEN said to ANYONE WHO HAS SEEN THIS:
CH>This is one that I've never seen before. Hopefully I'm just overlooking
CH>something real simple. In NT 4.0 workstation I get the following Error
CH>when I try install a printer and test print it:
CH>"Operation could not be completed. Print Processor is unknown".
JG> All I could find in Technet was this:
 JG> which calls the printer
JG> driver. An application has tried to use a print
JG> processor which has not been
 JG> installed on your computer.
JG> And this from the web site search:
 JG> ---------------------------------------------
JG> Error Message: "Print Processor Is Unknown"
 JG> Last reviewed: January 5, 1998
 JG> Article ID: Q153355
JG> The information in this article applies to:
JG> Microsoft Windows NT Workstation versions 3.5, 3.51, and 4.0
JG> Microsoft Windows NT Server versions 3.5, 3.51, and 4.0
JG> This error message may be caused by either of the following:
JG> The default print processor Winprint.dll is missing on the
JG> computer. This file should be located in the following directory:
 JG> %Systemroot%\System32\Spool\Prtprocs\W32x86
 JG> -or-
JG> The winprint key is corrupted or missing from the registry in the
 JG> following location:
 JG> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\
 JG> Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\
Thanks Jeff. I found that on MS's WWW.MICROSOFT.COM/WINDOWS [SUPPORT]
Website. Turns out the the WINPRINT.DLL file had been installed, but it was
missing the registry entry. When I ran REGEDT32 and added the proper registry
entry, all was well. This evidently is a problem that has been occasionally
cropping up since version 3.5.
I appreciate your help.
