In a message to Anthony May about "collecting mail finally.", Paul Edwards said: AM> last two months tonight, so you'll have ten or so meg free soon... :) PE> Yep, I opened the limits on my session time, and 1 hour 44 minutes PE> later, the rest was history. As a QWK packet, it compressed to 6Mb, 18Mb uncompressed - nevertheless, KWQ coped with it without a problem... AM> Question: do you know of any common (well known) problem with AM> Bink/Squish/Maximus (for OS/2) based BBSs having problems with the AM> frequent resetting of users OLR pointers? Didn't you have that AM> problem back in the days when people were using OLRs AM> on your board? PE> There are so many problems with Maximus that I was determined PE> to ditch the BBS side of things. By comparison, the front-end PE> mailer has been far more reliable than the BBS, and now that I PE> have Binkley recompiled with my own 32-bit compilers, I can PE> debug it myself. ...yes Paul, I realise this. I just... PE> Anthony, I'd suggest now is a good time to: PE> 1. Use BTPE302.ZIP, so that you can get more debugging info. PE> 2. Use the OS/2 version of PQWK240 to create your QWK packets. PE> Or if you want to keep messagebases, process your inbound mail PE> by both squish and pqwk. PE> Personally I would suggest switching to MSGED, a 32-bit mail PE> reader, in order to read your mail, straight out of the PE> messagebase. BFN. Paul. ...yes Paul, but... Paul, please just answer the question. I am not referring to my own system. The only thing I'd like to do with my own system is upgrade Squish to the 32bit version. Other than that, it does exactly what I want, the way I want it too. I am a point off your system, and that is all you have to worry about.
