Hello Vladimir,

MV>> I suppose I could make my Irex connect to his Binkp system. I'd

MV>> can not read an Ip number hidden in the phone nr. field.

They exist but the list is rather small I am afraid. Due to the inability
of the FidoNet community to come up with an agreed nethod of listing IP
nodes - mostly due to the Z1 sysops "inventing" a new method
every six month - many programmers of IP mailers have given up and do not
use the nodelist at all.

Irex can extract connect info from the systenm name field and the parameter
fields of the flags. It uses the fidonet.net method if it does not find
info in those fields.

Then there are Argus and Taurus. I know of no others.

 >>> if you use the 213 IP, but the russian lookup server doesn't
 >>> respond to an inquiry of the dvb.marvelm.ru Z2 listing.

MV>> The DNS server responds; it resolves to 194.84.229.122. But
MV>> apparently there is no Binkp server active at that number.
MV>> So his Z2 listing is invalid too.

 > Why?

I do not know why. I only know that it does not work.

On a local network?

Not from here,

 "Couldn't connect to dvb.marvelm.ru:24554"

 > Can you ping my system by "ping" utility?

It responds to ping:

 D:\IM>ping dvb.marvelm.ru

Note that the IP address has changed in the meantime.

How would that help? f1992.n5020.z2.fidonet.net resolves to the same IP
number as dvb.marvelm.ru.

Anyway, you are putting up a nice smoke screen to distract from the
original issue: your interzonal aka that should not be there.

Cheers, Michiel
