Hello Janis.

Well, they are as always entitled to think what they like, that is both their
problem, and privilege. :-)

But due to lack of co-operation/indecisiveness, possibly spite (?), there has
not been a collectively acceptable standard adopted for all zones that does
not discriminate/dis-advantage one or the other zone, and one way or the other
Zone3 drew the short stick. A large part of the blame sits squarely on the
shoulders of the USA-folks, as the matter was not on my "horizon" when I
figure this should have been sorted out/solved, i.e. it was before my time.

Besides Zone 3 being discriminated against / dis-advantaged by the current
sorry state of affairs with regard to the listing off ION's in FidoNet, it has
produced an unpleasant suprise for a node in Zone1, and there are no
guarrantee's that something similar will not / could not, happen elsewhere, in
any of the other Zones.

Hopefully a lot off folks that where very happy/content, doing things the way
they had "always" done things, are less complacent about the higgledy,
piggledy way that ION's are listed, and that this will produce a more tolerant
attitude, which will expedite, the adoption of a single standard means of
listing ION nodes, without discriminating / dis-advantaging any zone, as has
happened by default/accident with Zone3 with the current situation, and now,
the unfortunate incident in Zone1.

From my point of view, the sooner this matter gets solved, the greater the
benift to FidoNet as a whole. Rather than wait for some-one to decide to sue a
FidoNet *C for negligence / ommision/co-mission, on the part of that *C or
simply due to that *C representing FidoNet. The USA population, being by far
the most "sue happy" segment of this worlds population ...

Some of the possiblities, and not too far-fetched either from the point of
view here ...

Russell
