I'm back on-line. :(
With regard to the thread between yourself and Jim Dawson, perhaps I
am able to shed a bit of light on this one. It is common practice in
the US for big airport towers to issue a landing clearance to a flight
that may be 4 miles or so back, with a plane still not clear of the runway
or even with one still over the approach lights. In Canada, the preceding
aircraft must be clear, or clearing the runway. I am not privy to
the rationale behind the former, and have questioned it in my mind
more that once. I cannot speak about smaller US airports, as I don't
use them.
I caught your message about your career and B-52s. I would like to
ask you a few questions about that another day.
Good to see everyone on the echo!
~Mitch
