this is the job of another PKT type format... PKT type 1 is dead and
gone. type 2 and its variations are in widespread use now... there are
several type 3 proposals and at least one type 10 proposal.

i'd like to see a proposal similar to the JAM message bases. it's
already been suggested that slight changes be made to it and that it
would then make a good PKT format. the variable length fields it uses
are one of its major features :)

in any case, take a look at what we already have as proposals. if they
can be seen to be in widespread use, they may be made into FTS' instead
of staying FSC's... that's the way of fidonet and the FTSC...
