The program you refer to, and others similar, have been a source of
interesting readings and several well done dissemblings over the past few
years.
The first one of this type that I ever saw was 386TO486.EXE
To my knowledge, the program plays with a few harmless things and exits. I'm
not sure but I seem to remember that the program will actually fool other
programs into thinking it is the faster processor, after it is run.
No big deal.
There =have= been trojans of these programs and there is nothing to stop
someone imbedding a dropper or a virus in them.
They in actual fact do nothing. Logic states that and practice would confirm
it.
I would be suspect of any such program and would not run it on my machine(s).
