  I would strongly urge you towards the latter.

  After all, that approach would mean that in the future, when you work
  out a bulletproof means of passing environment variables into a VDM
  (I've not seen one as yet -- and before you say it, writing out batch
  files is *not* bulletproof.), you could then enable the page for DOS
  programs *as well*.
