JN> PRIVACY
JN> As a telephone user, you have come to assume a certain standard of
JN> privacy when you place or receive a telephone call via the traditional
JN> wireline systems. However, because cellular radiotelephones utilize
JN> radio transmissions to effect calls, the same standard cannot always
JN> be assured. While it is unlawful for an unauthorized person to divulge
JN> or use any information obtained from intercepting or "listening in on"
JN> conversations intended for others, you should not assume that your
JN> conversation is completely secure. Commercially available scanning
JN> equipment can permit a third party to monitor the radio channels used
JN> for cellular telephone calls.
JN> Finally, a universal warning.. Next step is to get it on a label to
JN> be placed on the cell phone, rather than on page 82 of the users
JN> manual!
JN> Still, Motorola deserves a lot of credit!
I think this is just an attempt to make the cell phone user get on the
bandwagon to ban scanners:
WHAT! SOMEONE CAN LISTEN TO MY PHONE CALLS!!
Notice that they didn't say that it is already illegal to even *listen*
to the calls.
