This has serious disadvantages and can be annoying to the user, but it is possible to get a logical screen buffer and paint into it much the same way you would do under DOS. Obviously, Presentation Manager itself must have some way of painting graphics onto the screen, and it uses precisely this facility to do so. PM runs as a user process at Ring 3 (with some very special exceptions), and you could effectively write your own process-level replacement for it if you really needed this. MSHELL is distributed by IBM as an example of how to do something similar. -- Mike ---* Origin: N1BEE BBS +1 401 944 8498 V.34/V.FC/V.32bis/HST16.8 (1:323/107) SEEN-BY: 270/101 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 955 712/407 515 SEEN-BY: 712/517 628 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 323/107 150 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 809 934 |
