Laura,
GM will begin (or already has begun) selling the EV1 in California.  The 1997 
model year is the first for this production line electric vehicle.
If you cannot contact GM and get answers to your questions, I may be able to 
look through some data and get you some (Detroit) phone numbers.
Also, be advised, in the (questionably) near future we will see a more 
environmentally-consious auto utilizing flywheel/electric technology (*THIS* 
is what I look forward to).

Thank you for the reply. I'll call the GM dealer here to see if they can
give me some more info. It's great to hear that they are FINALLY starting
major production. I was starting to wonder what the hold up was!

It's a real shame to see all this fanfare over a very *DIRTY* vehicle.
Due to the very inefficient energy storage and conversion, these cars will 
produce far more pollution than an equivilant IC vehicle.
