I suppose that given the time and a computer one could determine precisely
when the modern calendar's December 25th would fall in 5 BC.  I suspect it
would be in March or April - right around the time of Easter.

Until about 1573 the human calendar and the solar calendar were not synchronized.
If memory serves the pope cut about two weeks out of that year to get the months
and the seasons more closely into sync, so that particular year had only about 50
weeks in it instead of 52.  The lengths of some of the months were adjusted at the
same time.  Prior to that year the human and solar calendars were of
different lengths
and therefore the human date and the solar date would get farther and farther apart.

Also remember that under the old Roman calendar, September, October, November
and December were respectively the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th months.  July and August
were inserted into the Roman calendar by the Caesars, Julius and Augustus
respectively.
