I'll concede that, but I don't think any internationally standardized way
of referring to school years exists.  In the U.S., you enter 1st grade at
about the age of 6 and are graduated from high school after completing th
12th grade at about the age of 18.  As for math, we do fractions,
exponents, and radix changes in the 5th grade.
