http://www.uwm.edu/~jenor/shazam.html

What the Shazam does is recreate various melodic fragments from the original
(and, cheating, a bit of the McCartney fragment "can you take me back
. . ."
that technically isn't part of that original), fit melodies around a handful
of spoken phrases ("my wings are broken and so is my hair"), and
streamline
the whole thing by 25%, playing nearly all the noises with old-fashioned
instruments rather than sampling or looping. In the process, the band often
de-abstract some of the original's musical material, shaping it into more
solid, rock forms. Somehow, for instance, the band derives a wicked, Who-like
guitar pattern from the little stuttering piano bit right after the
original's "take this, brother: may it serve you well." For
someone like me,
this track alone is enough recommendation for the EP - and it might even
make "Revolution 9"-haters think again.
