subject: check for carrier

I am very new, and just learning the basics of using C++.
I have Borland C++ 2.0. So far I can do a few of the
basics, and get some information from the system
such as time, date etc. It's a long and slow process
for me, but it is interestng.

I would like to querry the modem to detect the carrier, my
guess is I would use the functions listed in the category 1
DosDevIOCtl calls. However, the example listed confuses me.
Every time I try to put something together, all I get is
errors.

Could some one show me how use the function to check the
modem to see if a carrier is present?

Thanks in advance, any information that you care to share
will be sincerely appreciated.

Joe
