MvdV> Actually it is very easy. A dial translation table like this:

   Key word here is *accidentally*.

If you want to deliberately set up your mailer to dial 000, then surely
it would be much easier to just enter terminal mode and punch in ATDT000,
wouldn't it?

The sad thing about this entire 000 hoax is, that, based on some totally
unsubstantiated claims (no names, no time, no details what-so-ever), the
entire fidonet is made to suffer for the unlikely event that Australia
would a) get a newbie node (how long ago was it since last time?) *and* b)
that this new node is a POTS only node *and* c) that the coordinator
granting this node his/her new nodenumber cannot communicate a simple thing
like this (it is of that big a concern to them).

Add to that the fact, that this newbie node would have to start sending
international crashmail unattended to an IP node, without even supervising
the first attempts (how many unattended, international, POTS crashmail have
you been sending in your fidonet career? -- I sure as hell watched
nervously every attempt after I put the Crash flag on any intn'l mail), and
I think even you would start thinking in terms of a certain razor, right?

No, sorry, I never bought that hoax and I never will.
