1237ac2b05c2 tech Hello David - --8<--cut CA>> I try to be intelligent and you repeat your mantra. CA>> The 'laws' you refer to cannot be repealed, it is CA>> contractual law or 'tort law'. The basis for all business CA>> that is conducted in any country. DD> I'll try again. OK. DD> In this state (at least), legislation was passed that stops DD> unions "forcing" employers to enter into that sort of DD> agreement. Such "contracts" were deemed oppressive. DD> The employer is free to employ anyone they consider capable DD> of doing the job, without that person having to be a member DD> of any workers' union. The employee is not expected to join DD> any union at any time thereafter either. I believe that is what is referred to as "right to work" state laws. DD> When I first started work in this country in 1981 I was DD> told that I had to join the union at the place I was DD> working (in a clerical capacity). After a while I couldn't DD> see the point and wrote a letter of resignation to the DD> union. They accepted it, and then all of those employed in DD> the same area (about 6 of us) at the company I was with, DD> also resigned (from the union). These too were accepted. DD> The obligation to join the union was mere hearsay - there DD> was no such requirement. DD> I have not been a member of a union since. With luck, it will all work out for you but look around you at others who had no unions to fight for them and watch their wages being reduced, pensions taken away, and medical insurance for retirees all disappear and ask yourself "Do you feel lucky?". In those states what you describe seems true. Unions don't want to be in those states where people can benefit from the union membership's efforts without supporting the union. In Michigan, and other states what you describe is _not_ true. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
