Naturally, they make similar recommendations for semi-auto handguns - if
you know the mag is low, change it now.
OTOH, some military weapons (those which fire from an open bolt, which
are generally forbidden to the public) don't have this specific problem.
The trigger itself is the bolt release, no separate action to release it
is necessary.

I personally like "peep" sights, and most modern military rifles seem to
have those as standard. The FAL, the AR-15, and so forth all use some
type of apperture, as opposed to the V sight on the SKS or on sporting
rifles.

No, but he was prone (laying on the ground) or something similar.
Personally, I can't see that well at that range to pick out a man-sized
stationary target at 1000 yards. Well, maybe if they painted it
flourescent orange ...
