I can relate. It is very frustrating. My 12 year old is ADD with LD and
I have a hard time getting him to understand in cleanliness. He has come
a long way though although we thought we had money stealing done with
around here I should tell you a story about our last encounter.
I was missing a 10 dollar bill. I found this out in a Home Depot when I
decided to buy the kids seeds and stuff for our science project on
environment. All three kids insisted nobody took it. I grounded them
all. Knowing someone had, but not getting straight answers. My husband
and I both couldn't believe it as they all sat there in the back seat
accusing one another of taking it. Finally Jeremy (ADHD and my holy
terror child) told me he saw Angel (his cat) with the 10 dollars playing
with it and hooked to her paw. When we got home they finally found the
money in a place I looked and did not find it and of course, no nail hole
on the money from the cat. Now what do you do. You have no actual proof.
Needless to say we decided to tease them a little over it and their story,
and explain it all over again about taking something that wasn't theirs.
Emphasizing God's knowledge of what they did or did not do and leave it at
that. So far so good, but I imagine it may still not quite be over. Oh,
I need to mention that Jeremy had a long talk to his cat about stealing the
money . No I dod not believe the cat did it, but it seems that
the kids did understand that I knew. They also knew they really did not
 get away with it.
Its hard sometimes when they come up with such good stories not to almost
laugh. And this story was somewhat possible. Although I think no hole
in the money kinda puts a hole in their story.
