It had many shortcomings in it didn't do a universal conversion... I -had-
tested it and think it was a good starting point, but needed additional
work... it was insufficient for use at the time, but like I said, a good
starting point.  I did post examples way back then of some
entries that should have been converted but weren't, but that file I kept
is long gone. At that time I was using FD in such a manner.

The only part of FD I now use is the editor, but there are some out there
who utilize it with a virtual modem today.  Wether or not some seem to
think it is outdated or not is irrelevant.  It is still a usable software
for POTS that -is- being used, that has and utilizes the phone field via IP
conversion for ITN connections, and those using it who are also IBN capable
are making it so by suing something such as IRex or BinkD.  Wether or not
it is considered a shim job or not, it is still an all around usable
software for both POTS and IP methods and depends on the phone field in
-some- instances.
