BM> Yes...we hear that a LOT. "It's not _fair_" or something along the
BM> lines that Johnny "made" me do it.
This is the typical ideology that those who have not been properly
disciplined at home will usually come up with. It dates back to the
very lousy parenting classes taught by one local community college as
well as to the social workers. They swallowed, hook. line, and sinker
the contents of a paper I read in the late 1940's while a student nurse
at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. That was written by a
couple of Navy shrinks who came back from the South Pacific and told us
how the Pacific Islanders were raised. They also stated that there was
a lack of psychiatric problems there and that the child rearing process
was responsible.
We have had a variation ever since of folks here sitting under palm
trees, waiting for coconuts to fall, or standing in shallow water and
spearing one fish after another.
The shrinks had no understanding of genetics, had no real idea of cause
and effect on human behavior, and the idiot social workers who have
insisted we follow some variation of this nonsense ever since have even
less.
When we return to insisting upon individual responsibility from each
child in turn as it arrives at an age where it can become responsible,
then we will begin to have an end to juvenile delinquency and juvenile
drug use.
And not beforehand.
No matter WHAT the "mental health" diagnosis is at the time.
