[TrapDoor Echo] PD>> A link from Trev's at 711/401 to Alwyn's needs to be established for PD>> the rest of Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) at least to get the echo PD>> out. And Trev is currently overseas, expected back in a couple of PD>> weeks. RV> The CRP is apparently within Fidonet guidelines, AFAIK. Oh, yes, echomail is purely an option within Fido. (Mind you very few systems opt to not have it). RV> The 640 net has massive file feeds as well as echomail. When you RV> consider that people like me automatically receive 80-90% of all RV> files uploaded to Aminet via ADS (within days of release), you RV> can imagine what all the Ibm style file feeds drag in daily. Yes, big volume stuff, fair enough. Anyway, I THINK I've solved the problem in another way. Net 640 can maintain its current link to TRAPDOOR via Zone 1 and not change anything. In the meantime I am again pulling in TRAPDOOR from Zone 2 (The Mad House itself now), and will arrange for the echo to travel up the N711 backbone link to Dave Hatch's system, and thus the rest of the country. The problem is there are now going to be TWO gates for TRAPDOOR, and a message from you to me in TRAPDOOR would have to go over to zone 1, then to zone 2 and finally back here. And if the N640 and N711 links should ever be accidentally mixed, we're into dupe city. However, the crossover linking has not occured in the past and there WERE two gates even then. RV> Anyway, I suppose none of this has helped you - it's just a mere RV> users viewpoint :) No, you use the network as much as anyone. Want to tell me exactly how N640's TRAPDOOR feed is currently flowing? Mea Culpa, Peter Deane --- Plutonic 2.15 #1* Origin: Inquestor.
