RS*What you said that set me off was the fact that you bragged about
*putting a Monstor Motor on a small fishing boat. One that was rated
*way over what the boat was designed for. Evidently so that you
*could race around a lake at breakneck speed just to get to the
*next spot you wanted to fish in. That's all.
It was rated for a 120...THe reason for the 150 was I couldn't find a
120 in my price range. The original game plan was to change the carbs
out to make it a 135 which at the time State Farm said was ok. The guy
I bought the motor from (Tim Estes, a VERY good wrench man) said try it
before we make the change. I guess I left out a LOT of info and for
that I'm sorry. I weigh 290 and am 6'3 my partner at the time weighed
in at 180 with a full load the boat ran about 55 safely. With the 120 a
boat like mine ran the same. I RARELY opened it up. The water had to be
glass smooth. I like to have never found a prop for it. A small eared 5
blade came along and calmed the 150 down and made it run just fine.
It's also (I believe) to have a bigger motor and run it easy than run a
small motor wide open...Like I'm doing now.
