On or about: 06-20-08 16:52, Alan Hess did engage All regarding, but not
limited to: central pain syndrome

AH> Is anyone else unlucky enough to have central pain sybdrome? Some
AH> stroke patients are unfortunate enough to get it. I developed it
AH> a month after my broken neck at C-5 and C-6 6/11/81 made me
AH> a quadriplegic. I apparently was unlucky enough to have
AH> one of the worst cases, in that the entire body, rather
AH> than part of it, is affected. It affected my entire body
AH> below level of injury (top of chest and back, and hands),
AH> has constantly gotten worse since, is more disabling than
AH> paralysis, and did/does not allow me to have any kind of
AH> life, much as I wanted to. The pains are driving me crazy,
AH> especially my upper back (which affects my arm use) and my
AH> abdomen (which affects eating and breathing.) No meds have
AH> helped, which is usually the case with central pain. :-(

I have a fibroid nuroma, which I doubt is the same category as you write
about, but I can sympathize with your situation. The best I can describe my
pain, is as if a darning needle was placed into a surgically damaged
muscle, where the damaged nerve argues with every step, if it should
"come this way" or "go that way". As this muscle
conducts this fight next to my siatic nerve at my femur, I get numbing if I
stand straight, and hip socket contractions if I sit. Neutral; is if I
stand with bent hip and knee. It's great strength training, but *very*
tiring.

AH> For those who do have it, or know someone who does,
 AH> centralpain.com and centralpain.org have good information.
 AH> *adh*

Thanks for the link! I've emailed it to myself, so I can visit on a trip to
a community I-net connection. I've been on a federal disability for a
decade, and frugality is *trying* to save the day.

PS: I trust you are becoming familiar with your adrenal/endorphin system?
