HI Dorothy, The first block looks like it could be "Monkey Wrench" or "Hole in the Barn Door" or a variation of that block... the Second one looks like "Annie's Star" or "Sister's Choice"... So many of these blocks have various names and will depend sometimes on just how you lay out the fabrics... hope this helps a bit...
