Sorry, I can't help with encryption algorithms. However I can
explain ROT13 to you ;-) It isn't an encryption method at all
(well, I guess it is but it is a totally simpleminded one and
the algorithm is universally known. Rther thing of it as an
"encoding scheme" not intended to keep something secret but
rather intended to change the appearance of somthing so it is
not instantly readable. That will make more sense after I reveal
 the algorithm ;-)
"ROT13" is a shorthand name meaning "rotate 13 characters".
Imagine the 26 letters of the ASCII keyboard as being printed in
sequence along the rim of a bicyle wheel. Each letter of a ROT13
encoded message is created by starting at the letter and moving
13 positions around the "wheel and picking the letter at that
location. To "decode" a ROT13 message you somply start at the
encoded character and move 13 more positions around the "wheel"
to get you back to the original letter.
ROT13 was invented to allow people to post messages on the
internet that either might offend others or that were "spoilers"
that people might care to avoid reading for whatever reason. The
assumption being that such a message requires the recipient
explicitely "do something" to make it readable so people are
forced to take responsibility for reading it.
