Hi Betty,
Needless to say I am a bit behind here... Spent this holiday weekend in bed
... I did a big NO NO! I ate some candy and it did a real
number on me... I know better but is sure did taste good when it went down
. But then I have paid dearly for that action... and it is unlikely that I
will do this one again for a very long time!!! !

There are many definite differences in embossing powders... unfortunately
some companies are not very good at all... and I have learned not to waste my
money on their products. Also some colors are easier to get good results
with where other colors no matter the manufacturer, are very difficult to get
to do what you want...
The company that is at the bottom of my list,
is Stamp Affair. ... and believe me I have any number of their
products... including stamps and EP's.... the EP's just don't measure up to
the quality of many of their competitors.
Comotion puts out a fair product in EP's and I have a number of their EP's
also... Interestingly enough I have found the Comotion EP's cost a bit less
than the Stamp Affair products here in the Detroit Metro Area.
However there are a number of much higher quality EP's available. Though
you are not likely to find them in Walmart or K-Mart stores... Your craft
stores like Michael's do carry some of the higher quality EP's ...
but you have to look and be prepared for the higher price tags that go with
some of these goodies...
There are several companies that in my opinion make good to great EP's. They
are Embossing Arts, Stamp'n Stuff, ... but there is another company that does great tinselettes that I
like... again the price tags can be a bit steep for some of these powders...
but the results are wonderful! Any more I use mostly Stamp'n Stuff...Right
now I have 64 different colors and textures of EP's that I can play with...
many of them I buy in bulk so that I don't have to worry about running out or
can get a good measure as part of a co-op that I have done here with other
fido users....
I have also gone to making my own RS's. I market them ... as well as make any number of designs for my own
personal use... I have found this to be a much more economically way to
enhance my RS's .... I just added another 24 stamp designs to my RS's here
last month by making my own stamps. And the cost was minimal.
Right now I am not doing much RS'ing because I am in a state of "flux"...
as soon as my cabinets get here and are installed I will be able to stamp and
quilt to my hearts content!!! And that should be in just a couple of weeks
now... .
I have lost count of the number of RS's I have any more but I do know it is
well over 1000. I have a number of stamps that are still awaiting mounts...
I just have not had the opportunity to get to them to do the mounts ..
I am also going to be doing some wedding invitations... These invitations
will use 6 different stamps... All the stamps are now made up and ready to
go... The paper is here... and as soon as the construction is done I will get
with the bride to choose the embossing powders/colors and then get moving on
the 200 invitiations that she wants done.
Once I get things settled here I will most likely get in touch with Pat and
Joan about doing another EP co-op. I was hoping to be
able to do one before this but things don't always go the way you want them
to ...
Now since I have babbled on and on Bettie, can you be a bit more specific
about the problem that you are having with the EP? Maybe there is a way to
solve it for you with a bit of ease??? And what company are you
using...? Is there a specific color too? As I mentioned all of these factors
will figure into what it takes to get good results...
