Yeah, I know, but that's only within a 4DOS descript.ion compliant
move/copy function in a program.
The reason I want to combine files is because I have some of the
descript.ion files backed up, but moved files in and out of the
corresponding directories with stupid Winblow's explorer. I lost alot
just because the next time the descript.ion got written to with those
files out of the dir, the descriptions were lost.
Now I'm trying to find all the files, all the backed up descript.ions, and
edit and combine them. Then I'm gonna burn em to CD. BTW, another really
good way to lose descriptions. Fell pray to this too. If you write to
the CD in multiple sessions, the next time you backup from that dir on the
hd with the descript.ion, it won't get copied to the CD. I'd thought it
would have been refreshed, but it saw that the file already existed and
skipped it. More hosage :(
Anyway, the problem seems to be adding descriptions to the descript.ion
for files that are not currently in the directory. It acts like there are
NO descriptions at all, and wipes the file.
I need to be able to do it that way so I don't have to copy all the CDs to
the HD, then edit the descript.ion there, which would be not only a total
pain in the ass, but not even possible because I don't have space on my
puny HD :(
