Salut Rob Williams !
RT>> But hen as it coms to really programming, making the damned thing
RT>> work, it's a hell to me...
RB> Yes, it is a different state of mind,
RW> to be sure. Part of it is windows, part of it is OOP, and part Delphi,
RW> IMO. It takes a while to get used to all of it,especially when you are
RW> coming from a real procedurally oriented language. But it can be done!
You forget to mention the event driven programming model used by
Windows which is far away from traditional (ie DOS) way of doing
things.
My opinion is that the more experience you have with procedural
languages and traditional OS (like DOS or UNIX), the more difficulties
you have to switch to a object oriented language like Delphi and an
even driven environment like Windows.
One of the best book every body should read is the James Rumbaugh book
about OMT (Prentice Hall). It is *not* a Delphi book. It is a general
book which explain a methodology to be used to design software based
on the OOP paradigm. A must have !
