CS> Ok, an example. A cop has to shoot someone in line of duty. True lack
of
CS> racism means the color of the persons involved, is not an issue so that
CS> only the rightness of the action is the issue. Dont _assume_ because
the
CS> cop may have been white, and the person shot may have been black, that
CS> racism is part of the shooting. That vision of it perpetuates racism.
There is a tendency, as there was in the early 60's in the services, to
scream racism for something to do.
We had an allegedly racist shooting here in Baltimore a while back - guy
with a knife in a crowded place refused to put it down, and a crowd that
wouldn't let officers back off to a safe distance. Guy advanced (or appeard
to be advancing) and the cop that perceived the advance shot him and he died.
Dead guy was black. All 3 cops were black. Where's the racism? The white
leadership of the police department had brainwashed these cops (or so the
popular tale was told). I am certain that, had the shooting cop been white,
we'd've had a riot on our hands. Where's the reason in this?
