AT>I also feel that by using acrylic cages you can sanitize the bird's
AT>environment better than that of the wire cages. The Macaw cage is made of
AT>Lexan which is much stronger than acrylic.
KJ> Wow--Lexan IS tough stuff! I'm impressed!
In another part of my life, I'm a volunteer firefighter and former
paramedic. Lexan is used to make the helmets and face shields we
wear. It does take a lot to scratch the lexan face shield...and I doubt
a parrot, even a macaw, could bite through that stuff. It's much harder
than plexiglass and much stronger and lighter than fiberglass of the
same thickness.
KJ> What DO you use to wash acrylic cages to disinfect them? I'm sure that
KJ> some strong disinfectants could harm the surface.
