Hi Day Brown, hope you are having a nice day
PW>> Make/model? And yep, it does matter. Cathode is generally at the
PW>>end with the gas filling stub. (also the same end the beam comes out
PW>>of)
DB> Tanx Paul. it works!
DB> Uniphase S/N 237435 about 15 cm long, 2.5cm dia. 2 watt?
DB>my 3kv .5w 12vdc input. the beam seems to be about 2mm dia.
DB>given the brightness of the roseate light seen thru the sides of
DB>the tube, I'm kinda less than impressed with the beam.
Figgures it'd be a brand I don't have a reference on. But from the
size of it, I'd say you need to put a `1/' in front of that 2 and a
`m' before that W. If it were 2W, you'd not be seeing this. .->
I've a Siemens here as the exciter in a `rifle' that's right at that
size. Since I don't have the parts to process the beam it emits
(need a *cheap* source for Ti:Sapphire and a few other things of that sort)
isn't all that strong compared to the 7.3mW Melles-Griot I pulled from
and old Xerox laser printer. If it has a sticker that says what class
it is, that'll help pin it down. My 7.3mW is a class IIIb. Yours
probably is a class I or Ia.
And to drag this on topic... :>
If I can get my hands on a few specialty items, I could almost
begin to use the Melles as the ignitor for a home fusion system.
-=> Yours sincerely, Paul Williams <=-
