On payments that happen each year the insurance company is just a bank account that charges you for holding the money and has the right to bounce your cheque even if you have money in your account. Their payment forms are longer than bank cheques too. Do the sums over a 10 year basis. Side questions to think about. Can you have sufficient cash in the savings account to cover the change over years? Any of the bills likely to be more than 1 years premiums? Two years? Five years? Is someone like social security or ex-spouse likely to take the money away from you? Does something like changing your job cancel your cover?
